Step 1: Complete account and sender details
Check your business details and set up an email sender. For an address on your own domain, select the appropriate sender type and confirm the verification email. Set the reply destination deliberately.
Use an address someone monitors. Decide who will answer replies before you activate the first automation.
Step 2: Verify the sending domain
Open E-Mail → Verifizierte Domains (verified domains) and add your domain. Open its edit view and transfer the supplied DNS records to your domain provider.
Use your account’s values rather than a copied example. Preserve existing DNS records and wait for Quentn to show successful verification. Check DMARC separately as part of your domain setup.
Step 3: Prepare contacts and a test tag
Use the Contacts area to import CSV if needed, map fields and review the result. Keep subscription evidence and suppressed contacts separate from a bare address export. Create a distinctive tag for your test workflow.
Use only your own mailbox for the initial test. Do not assign a campaign-entry tag to a whole imported audience while the automation is still being built.
Step 4: Build one short sequence
Create a campaign with a deliberate entry event and a sequence. Inside the sequence, use the start event and one email action. Set the sender, subject and message, and retain the unsubscribe option.
Draw the intended path on paper first: entry, email, finish. This makes an unintended loop or extra message easier to spot in the visual builder.
Step 5: Test entry, timing and exit
Save and check the workflow, then use your own test contact through the chosen entry path. Confirm the message arrives and inspect its links, reply address and any configured delay.
If you start contacts manually, filter and select only your test contact first. Check that a repeated trigger will not unintentionally send the same welcome message again.
Step 6: Enroll the intended audience and monitor
After the test succeeds, activate the intended subscriber entry workflow and monitor sending results and opt-outs. Add longer sequences only when each step has a clear purpose.
Keep a record of the entry criteria and changes. Before editing a running campaign, consider what should happen to contacts already inside it.
Avoid common mistakes
- Domain remains unverified: compare each DNS hostname and value with the account.
- No email arrives: check the entry event, contact selection and sequence timing.
- Too many contacts enter: pause and narrow the trigger or tag assignment.
FAQ
Does CSV import replace a subscription process?
No. Import brings in records; it does not establish permission or replace your chosen signup confirmation workflow.
What is a sequence?
A sequence groups timed email actions within a campaign. Start with one message so you can inspect the whole path.
Must I launch a complex funnel first?
No. One controlled entry and one tested email are enough to validate the initial setup.

Next step: prepare your data
Review existing addresses before transferring them. Clean address formatting replaces neither mailbox validation nor subscription evidence.
